Just running and firing from a distance is not only less effective, you're missing out on a lot of XP because of that. What he should have done was grenade the flying piranhas first out of the sky while staying mobile to dodge their projectiles and then rush the crossbowmen with the Spellbook. The Grenade is also powerfull provided you can aim with it's arc, which he does a few times but not nearely enough.

The Spellbook the player has is pretty much a shotgun, you're supposed to move up close and blast nigs with it for an easy 1-hit kill. Obviously, no cinematic crap is permitted. Let's talk about fun FPS that we're looking forward to or already exist (don't mention the obvious, this is a discovery thread). Evil Daggers might be worth a mention, although it's just an endless mode game with no levels. I just learned about Hellbound, a doom-like game being made (shillstarter already over) and now I'm worried I could be missing on something good, hence this thread. Fun.ĭusk (just came out of EA) - quake-like. Mindless Fun.Īmid Evil (still in EA but torrentable) - inspired by heretic. Serious Sam 3 - big maps with 100's of enemies. Here's what I've liked since the madness started: Since then I've been hunting down FPS to play (preferably modern). It opened my eyes on exploratory level design and non-spawning enemies. On my main Mac (C2D MacBook, GMA 950, 10.6.8, Wineskin Winery 1.7/Wineskin 2.5.9, WineWS9 1.5.23AMDSpeedHack), performance seemed to be slightly better using Direct3D at 1024x768 32 bit, rather than using nGlide. The game runs quite well, except that mouse controls seem to be quite jaggy out of the box you'll likely want to turn on mouse smoothing (IIRC, that was a complaint when the game first came out too). As it happens, it's turned out quite well (but I'm not surprised, as UE-based games have generally behaved well on my Mac through Wineskin and CrossOver). One of these days, I need to learn to use Wineskin.
